Amithlon is a virtual machine that recreates a series of Amiga computers. Amithlon includes an integrated JIT compiler based on a Linux kernel and accesses special x86 drivers that bypass 68k emulation. For example, graphics cards, SCSI and ATAPI hard drives can be accessed directly under AmigaOS 3.x, which results in a significant increase in speed. The software owes its name to a fusion of the words Amiga and Athlon. The package boosted as a stand-alone operating system and allows to make an amiga from an Intel / AMD-equipped standard PC. Two Amiga company’s Extreme Computing and Haage & Partner launched specific computers with Amithlon/AmigaOSXL pre-installed. It looked very promising in 2002 but Amiga inc. finally hooked off from Extreme Computing and Haage & Partner got in a dispute with the creators of Amithlon. You can still download AmigaOSXL, this live CD image boots into AmigaOS 3.9 and works well on older Intel hardware. If you want more information about how to install Amithlon or want the latest Kernel 4.1 please visit this website. Someone should consider building a new Amithlon AmigaOS4 edition…
