Belgian based Hyperion Entertainment CVBA and Italian company Cloanto are in a big conflict about several Amiga IP’s. The platform that finally slipped out of Amiga inc. shadow is ounce more divided and all future prospects are probably postponed until further notice. Hyperion Entertainment CVBA just filed a request to oppose Cloanto’s US trademark ownership, mostly because of Hyperion’s registration of ‘AmigaOne’ and ‘AmigaOS’ trademarks was rejected by the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and found them too close to Cloanto’s Amiga trademark. AmigaOS 4 developers Hyperion Entertainment have also started legal actions to claim the ‘Workbench’ trademark. Hyperion’s Shareholder Ben Hermans former adviser of European Commissioner for Trade Karel De Gucht (ALDE), also filled an application for the ‘Amiga Forever’ mark with the EU Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
