Ocean Software, was a British software development company, that became one of the biggest European video game developers and publishers of the 1980s and 1990s. Game developer Ocean was famous for often buying the rights to make video games from different arcade, movie and television franchises. Many license games combined several styles for example featuring platform action and car driving. The British company has released many Commodore Amiga game titels, but here is the top 5 of best Amiga games by Ocean:

1: Darkman
In this side-scrolling platformer, the player controls Darkman, a superhero who can jump, kick and punch, as well as swing from a rope during action sequences between levels. In each level, Darkman disguises himself as the boss of the level, whom he must defeat before the time limit elapses. Tying into the plot of the film, Darkman wears masks of various gangsters who are responsible for his disfigurement, but his disguise dissolves after being exposed to sunlight for too long.

2: Robocop 1
RoboCop is a run & gun and beat ’em up hybrid arcade game, the player controls RoboCop who advances through various stages that are taken from the 1987 movie. The bonus screen is a target shooting range that uses a first-person perspective. The intermission features digitized voices from the actors. Oceans’ Robocop was so successful it spent over a year at the top of the software charts. Based on the hyper-violent film of the same name, it set a new standard for film licences, and created a successful template that Ocean would use for years to come.

3: Adams family
The game follows the Addams Family father and husband, Gomez Addams, as he attempts to save the members of his family who have been kidnapped. They have been stowed away in various locations in the mansion and are protected by a boss of some sort. The manservant Lurch and the severed hand Thing are the only characters not to be kidnapped. Thing will provide hints on gameplay whenever Gomez finds one of his red boxes marked with an ‘A’ for ‘Addams’. Gomez starts outside the front door of the mansion. Inside the house, Gomez can move from level to level in basically any order. The player will soon discover that the mansion is full of secrets, hidden passageways and side levels and bosses

4: Lethal weapon
Lethal Weapon is a side-scroller, in which the player chooses one of the two police partners (Mel Gibson or Danny Glover) and battles it out with criminals around the city of Los Angeles and the surrounding area. Battles are resolved via fists, guns and grenades. It is considered by gaming enthusiasts to be extremely difficult. The game was released in 1992.

5: Navy Seals
The game is a side-scrolling shoot ’em up and revolves around Lieutenant Dale Hawkins, recovering caches of hidden Stinger missiles from terrorists in Oman. The game features a total of five levels with varying locations and begins with allocating five lives to the player. The main objective of the game is to locate and place time bombs on boxes containing Stinger missiles, in which the player is required to escape before the time runs out. The enemies featured in the game are terrorists; the player must neutralise them by shooting them with their selected weapon, which is a handgun by default. Other weapons available in the game include machine guns, rocket launchers, and a flamethrower…
