The Amiga community is thriving again and many new projects have been announced, and so does the entire retro community. New Nintendo retro console, SEGA retro consoles, game remakes and even a new Atari console is in the making. But lets get back to the Amiga business, what are the most anticpated Amiga products of 2017, what would make most Amigans really happy? Here is our list of most anticpated Amiga products of 2017!

The AmigaOne A1222 is a new cheaper alternative to the recently release AmigaOne X5000. A-EON Technology will sell this new mid-class AmigaOne between €400 and €500 and despite it’s lower price the A1222 would perform very well and offering Amigans a very good computer experience. The specifications of the upcoming AmigaOne A1222 are the Freescale QorIQ P1022, 1.2GHz, 32-bit, e500V2, dual-core PPC CPU 64-bit DDR3 SODIMM 400MHz interface supporting up to 8GB RAM. 2x SATA 2.6 compliant controllers 2x external and 2x internal USB ports 2x RGMII Ethernet PHYs each providing Gbit Ethernet x4 PCIe gen 1 link allows data rates of 2.5Gbps per lane x16 PCIe connector to support Radeon HD graphics cards with 24-bit HDMI LCD interface and HDMI 1.3 support. The AmigaOne A1222 is off course aimed for being a hobby computer system, you can’t expect any miracles, but it does save the wallet and could increase the Amiga NG user base significantly. The AmigaOne A1222 is being tested over and over again for the last 2 years, so you can expect a very reliable and sustainable product in the end. We are getting one for sure!

The Vampire accelerators are truly legendary and gave Commodore Amiga classic a whole new life and meaning. Armed with the 080 and offering HDMI capabilities. The new SAGA (super AGA) offers ECS/OCS Commodore Amiga’s AGA compatibility and the new released updates and firmware only make things better. Last year Apollo team announced the Vampire 1200 edition, since it’s announcement Amiga forums are full of questions and off course the same repeated question ‘when is the release date?’. What we know is that Apollo team found a manufacturer to produce A1200 connectors to produce the Vampire 1200 accelerator, and that the accelerator will be released in a distant future. Beyond that is a cloud of mist and many false rumors, none the less the Vampire 1200 would make a lot of people very happy.

A-Eon Technology started working on LibreOffice for AmigaOS 4.1 and it’s new fleet of AmigaOne computers some time ago. This could mean a big step forward for making the next generation AmigaOS more attractive and could boost AmigaOne sales. Office suites are necessary for every computer platform or nobody will take it serious. The LibreOffice suite comprises programs for word processing, the creation and editing of spreadsheets, slideshows, diagrams and drawings, working with databases, and composing mathematical formulae. It is available in 110 languages. The LibreOffice Extension Repository lists more than 280 extensions. More extensions and scripts for LibreOffice can be written in C++, Java, CLI, Python, and LibreOffice Basic. A release date of LibreOffice for AmigaOS 4.1 and AmigaOne systems has never been announced, only beta testers have received a copy. But we can only hope that this will happen during Amiga32 in Germany together with the release of the AmigaOne A1222. Lets keep our fingers crossed…

German Amiga developer Daniel Müßener is working on Tower 57 for AmigaOS 4.1, the project came to life during a fundraiser campaign on Kickstarter. Tower 57 is unique because the game has been produced in 2017 and will be released on many popular operating systems, it’s fantastic news that the AmigaOne legacy can have such an opportunity. Tower 57 is a twin stick shooter with 16-bit inspired pixel art, destructible environments, and a heavy focus on co-op. Undoubtedly that many AmigaOne users are waiting for this game release…
