The Amiga conversion of Powerglove is based on the original C64 Powerglove source code and uses the Tubular Worlds low level code (which was also used in Arya Vaiv and Monsters of Terror). Although there’s still some way to go, the game is already playable (despite some bugs). The developer is still working the parallax effect and requires further optimisation and ultimately the amount of additional effects and/or game extensions in the final version will depend on how much CPU time can be saved. The next step will be to build a non-playable demo, which will basically comprise of Pierre Martin’s test song, the ‘mini-intro’ sequence and the ‘robo-parade’ running on real hardware. The story of Powerglove is about two polar subterranean thermal reactors that supply the increasing energy demand of mankind, because the world’s fossil resources are exhausted. An explosion in the Northern polar thermal reactor has destroyed all primary and secondary energy connections and contact with the engineers and rescue robots has been lost. Without an energy supply the death of billions is imminent! You need the five control diamonds to engage the station’s backup systems. Release date is TBA, claims 3Q of 2017.
