The non-profit organisation ‘Power Progress Community’ are very happy to announce that the upcoming open source PowerPC notebook will enter the first engineering stage. After reaching the first stage of there fundraiser campaign they are ready to sign the first contract with ACube Systems. A few days ago ACube also confirmed the inclusion of an MXM connector in the notebook. Giving Power Prgress Community the possibility to deliver the basis for an upgradeable laptop. The upcoming PowerPC notebook will have a NXP T208x, e6500 64-bit Power Architecture with Altivec technology with up to 4 x e6500 dual-threaded cores. The notebook will support Linux PowerPC and maybe AmigaOS 4.x, Hyperion Entertainment CVBA have made no public announcements concerning this topic.
