Doom 64 EX+: A community revival of the N64 Classic, now on AmigaOS 4

Doom 64 EX+ is a fan-driven evolution of Doom 64 EX, the original project by Samuel “Kaiser” Villarreal, aimed at faithfully recreating the iconic Nintendo 64 version of Doom 64 on modern systems. While the original EX project succeeded in preserving the unique atmosphere, lighting, and gameplay of the 1997 N64 classic, Doom 64 EX+ builds upon this settings with enhanced performance, broader modding support, and modern quality-of-life features—all without compromising the authenticity of the original 64-bit experience. The project stays loyal to the typical visual style, ambient soundtrack, and gameplay mechanics that set Doom 64 apart from other entries in the series. Originally released exclusively for the Nintendo 64, Doom 64 was a darker, more atmospheric take on the franchise, featuring all-new levels, textures, and enemies not seen in the earlier PC versions. Doom 64 EX+ ensures that this distinct identity is preserved while opening the door to community-driven enhancements and ports across various platforms. Special thanks go to Marek (smarkusg) for porting the game to AmigaOS 4, and to BSzili, a prominent MorphOS/AmigaOS developer, for implementing critical BigEndian fixes—ensuring compatibility and performance across PowerPC-based systems. To play the game, you’ll need the original Doom64.WAD file, which can be obtained from the official GOG or Steam release of Doom 64.
