Retro Revival: Super Pang makes its debut on Sega Mega Drive

Capcom’s classic shooter Super Pang, the beloved second entry in the Pang series first launched in arcades, now has a fanmade Sega Mega Drive / Genesis port in early alpha. Developer RCampeador has released version 0.1 of this work-in-progress adaptation on itch.io, delivering a nostalgic blast of the balloon-popping puzzle shooter optimized to run on the original 16-bit hardware and emulators alike. This new port shows goods progress, including multiplayer support, six levels of tour mode, ladders, power-ups like the double and fixed hook, and the distinctive hexagonal ball types from the original. The developer has also worked on color and palette improvements to capture the game’s signature visual style on Mega Drive hardware. This fan project is a non-commercial homage and not officially affiliated with Capcom, but it represents a remarkable technical feat, bringing a cherished nintendo classic to a beloved 16-bit console with a passionate community of retro gaming fans. Those interested in following the project or experiencing this retro shooter on Sega hardware can freely download MegaPang’s current build to explore its multiplayer balloon-bursting chaos in its early form.
