Paramount Pictures and game publisher Activision have officially announced a collaboration to produce an action movie based on the long-running Call of Duty game franchise. This will be the first time the game series, which started in 2003 and has dozens of titles and spin-offs, will be adapted into a film. Paramount CEO David Ellison said it is an honor to take on this project. As a big fan of the series, he wants to approach the film with the same discipline and high-quality standards used for Top Gun: Maverick. The goal is to create an amazing experience that appeals both to longtime players and new audiences. Activision President Rob Kostich is equally enthusiastic. He emphasized that the film will stay true to the elements that have made Call of Duty popular while also expanding the universe. The game series covers diverse periods and themes—from World War II to Cold War espionage and modern conflicts—so it is still unclear whether the movie will adapt an existing campaign or tell a brand-new story. However, some critics express concern that a Call of Duty movie could end up glorifying the US military and serve as increased military propaganda within Hollywood.
