A major hack disrupted Rainbow Six Siege, granting players billions of free R6 credits and rare skins, prompting Ubisoft to shut down all servers and the in-game marketplace. The breach started on December 27, 2025, with players reporting sudden influxes of 2 billion R6 credits, developer-exclusive skins like Glaciers, and random account bans during matches. Ubisoft first acknowledged “unusual activity” on X, then intentionally took servers offline about two hours later to investigate. As of December 28, servers remain down across PC, PS4/5, and Xbox platforms, with no estimated restoration time. Cybersecurity group Vx-Underground revealed hackers exploited a service to ban players, modify inventories, and distribute an estimated $339 trillion in credits. Some accounts also gained thousands of Alpha Packs and Renown, crashing the marketplace and slashing item prices. This echoes a 2023 Ubisoft cyberattack targeting 900GB of data, though it spared Siege accounts. Veterans urge players to avoid logging in or spending fraudulent credits to prevent permanent bans during potential rollbacks. Ubisoft plans to revert affected activity without punishing innocent users who spent the credits. Fans demand more transparency, as the outage halted holiday gaming sessions worldwide.
