Taki Udon Has unveiled what he calls the world’s first affordable FPGA gaming console, codenamed the “SS One”, which is designed to play PlayStation 1 games. Inspired by the PS One, the console will be compatible with PS1 titles and also support the MiSTer FPGA framework, allowing to play games from other systems like the Sega Saturn. Udon has shared that the SS One will start at $149 for early adopters and those who have previously ordered from Keep Retro. In comparison, the Analogue 3D launched last year at $249.99, and the older Analogue Pocket is priced above MSRP due to limited supply. The SS One may also offer an optional disc drive, resembling a slim version of the main console, and could include other color options. While a release date has not yet been confirmed, Udon’s announcement on X has generated significant buzz.
