Namco’s Aqua Jet Splashes onto game consoles for the first time

This week’s Arcade Archives release from Hamster Corporation brings a rare gem back to shore: Namco’s Aqua Jet. Originally released in arcades in 1996, this high-speed jet ski racer is finally available to play at home for the very first time. Making its debut not just in the standard Arcade Archives line but also in the newer Arcade Archives 2 collection, Aqua Jet is now available across a wide range of platforms, including Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4, as well as their next-generation counterparts—the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. While recent Arcade Archives selections have taken players back as far as the early 1980s, Aqua Jet feels fresh by comparison, hailing from the mid-’90s. At the time, it turned heads in arcades with its massive cabinet designed to mimic a real jet ski. Powered by Namco’s System Super 22 hardware, the game delivered gleaming waves, sun-soaked resort courses, and a fast-paced ride that stood out in a busy arcade scene. Nearly three decades later, fans finally have the chance to dive in. With this release, Aqua Jet makes the leap from arcade exclusivity to home consoles, preserving another slice of gaming history for a new generation.
