Wade Rosen has been CEO of Atari since April 2021, under his leadership, the company has focused on re-releasing and celebrating classic games and hardware, such as with the recent project Atari 50: The Anniversary Celebration. In an interview with VGC, Rosen revealed some special games he would like to revive through remasters. His personal wishlist includes titles like Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen (1993), Snatcher (1988), and Panzer Dragoon Saga (1998). Rosen emphasized that Atari as a company always maintains a balance between passion for gaming and commercial feasibility. While his personal preference leans toward these remasters, he recognizes the importance of selecting projects that are both economically responsible and aligned with the company’s commercial strategy. An overly narrow focus on either passion or solely on financial metrics could put Atari’s long-term viability at risk. As an example of a project with good commercial and passion-driven potential, Rosen mentioned the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection. Titles like this can contribute to Atari’s stability and growth while remaining true to its heritage and community. Rosen views Atari as a brand with strong cultural and nostalgic value, aiming for a sustainable future that combines innovation and respect for the past. His vision is to grow the company step by step, with a healthy balance between commercial reality and creative ambition.
