Capcom’s remake of Resident Evil Zero has officially been delayed and is now expected in 2028, according to leaker and insider Dusk Golem. The development underwent an internal reboot late 2024, with the development team changing hands. Such reboots are common in the Resident Evil series and don’t necessarily indicate quality issues. Originally, the remake was planned to release before Resident Evil 9 but was pushed back due to this restructuring. Additionally, Capcom is working on a remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which is reportedly progressing more smoothly and is expected to release earlier, around 2027. Another project, Resident Evil Requiem, is planned for 2026 and is said to conclude the current Resident Evil story around Raccoon City, marking a new start for the franchise. As for Resident Evil 5, fans may have to wait even longer, as no remake is currently planned, with a release not expected until sometime in the 2030s due to Capcom’s busy development schedule. Despite the delay, fans can look forward to exciting new Resident Evil experiences in the coming years based on these projects.
