Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster hits 6 million sales milestone

Square Enix announced that the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series, covering the first six mainline games, has exceeded six million units sold worldwide as of December 2025. This milestone marks a significant achievement for the remastered collection, building on steady sales growth since its initial release. Console versions arrived later on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in April 2023, with Xboxth Xbox Series X|S and Microsoft Store in September 2024, expanding accessibility across platforms. These releases feature refined pixel art by original artist Kazuko Shibuya and supervised soundtracks by Nobuo Uematsu, unifying visuals and audio from NES and SNES eras. Sales hit two million units by May 2023, three million in September 2023, five million in March 2025, and now six million in December 2025. This progression reflects strong demand, aided by modern features like toggleable boosters for experience, Gil, random encounters, and ABP adjustments, plus options for original or remastered music and new fonts. Final Fantasy II includes specific accessibility boosts. To celebrate the milestone, Square Enix plans CD soundtracks for each game, releasing February 18, 2026, in Japan with bonus art by Kazuko Shibuya and comments from Nobuo Uematsu.
