Final Fight Enhanced: Amiga Beat ’em up gets major upgrade

Indie developer Prototron and team are developing a significantly improved build of Final Fight Enhanced, an enhanced version of the 1991 US Gold Amiga port of Capcom’s classic arcade beat ’em up. Originally criticized as a poor conversion similar to the Street Fighter II Amiga port, this homebrew project transforms it into a standout title for ECS/AGA Amiga systems. The latest update focuses on technical optimizations, replacing AmigaOS calls with bare-metal routines for better disk loading and memory efficiency. Display width expands from 288 to 320 pixels, with stable screen synchronization across systems and operation on just 2MB Chip RAM—no extra slow or fast memory needed. Additional enhancements include more on-screen enemies, new sound effects, and subtle gameplay tweaks for increased challenge. Programming and music come from Prototron, title music by Jolyon “The Judge” Myers, and background graphics by Ralph. The game retains its non-commercial roots but delivers arcade-inspired action through city streets with punch, kick, and brawl mechanics. A new download arrives soon, with older builds accessible via Turran FTP—though some lack the full two-disk set. Community excitement highlights the Amiga’s strong 2025 homebrew scene, praising the 320-pixel width as a key win.
