QEMU, the popular open-source tool for running virtual machines, just dropped version 10.2.0 on December 24. This update packs more than 2,300 changes from 188 contributors, bringing faster performance and better support for various computer systems. FreeBSD users can now share files more smoothly with virtual machines. A new feature lets you update running VMs without shutting them down, saving time and resources by keeping everything connected. The core system runs quicker thanks to a smart upgrade, and everyday use feels snappier with plenty of fixes. ARM-based systems get new capabilities and board options, making them work even better in QEMU. Older systems like HP workstations and specific controllers now run smoothly too, thanks to a young developer’s work from Google Summer of Code. PowerPC, RISC-V, and others see improvements for stability and speed. Head to the QEMU website for the download and check the full list of changes.
