Reassembler’s ambitious port of Sonic the Hedgehog to Commodore Amiga systems is great news for the amiga scene, targeting both A500 and A1200 hardware with near-original fidelity. Announced in late November 2025 via development videos, the port aims to recreate the 1991 Sega Mega Drive classic on stock Amiga configurations. Developer Reassembler, best knwon for the amazing OutRun Amiga edition, starts with the A1200’s AGA chipset to match the original’s 64-color palette before optimizing graphics for the A500’s 1 MB chip RAM OCS limits. Early footage shows faithful Green Hill Zone scrolling, sprite work, and loading screens. Primary focus is a 1 MB A500 release, alongside an A1200 build offering enhanced colors and speed.
