IO Interactive has announced a delay for its upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light, pushing the release from March 27, 2026, to May 27, 2026. The developers of the Hitman series cited the need for additional polishing to meet quality standards. This news arrives shortly after the game’s trailer at The Game Awards 2025, which featured Lenny Kravitz as the character Bawma. IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak described 007 First Light as the studio’s most ambitious project yet, stating that development is progressing well with a fully playable build from start to finish. The extra time allows for refinements to ensure a high-quality day-one experience. Abrak shared the update via social media, emphasizing player expectations. 007 First Light stars a younger James Bond earning his iconic code name, blending espionage, stealth, and action inspired by Hitman mechanics. It targets platforms like Nintendo Switch 2 and PS5, with recent dev diaries highlighting features like Instinct mode for tactical advantages and fluid combat systems. The game was revealed earlier in 2025, generating buzz with missions set in locations like Slovakia and London.
