Commodore Industries official remake of Taito’s The New Zealand Story launches next month

Commodore Industries, the Italian company currently facing a legal dispute with Commodore International over branding rights, announces the upcoming Steam release of The NewZealand Story: Untold Adventure. Developed in partnership with Over The Game, this remake of Taito’s 1988 arcade platformer honors the original’s spirit through updated visuals and gameplay while introducing fresh content. The game blends nostalgic elements with modern enhancements, featuring iconic worlds alongside new levels, enemies, and bosses packed with 2D arcade action. Players control Tiki the kiwi, using bows, projectiles, flying vehicles, and power-ups to rescue friends in vibrant, detailed stages full of rhythm and adrenaline. Designed for both longtime fans reliving the classic and newcomers discovering its charm, it maintains Taito’s original energy. Announced amid Commodore Industries’ efforts to revive retro gaming legacies under Taito license, the project follows earlier teases and builds excitement with promises of a faithful yet innovative experience. The studio also develops Xenon 3: Hyperblast, a sequel to The Bitmap Brothers’ Xenon series, signaling broader retro revival ambitions. Expect the Steam launch next month.
