Donut Dodo reborn: N64 complete, Dreamcast incoming soon

Pixel Games SARL-S continues expanding its hit arcade-style platformer Donut Dodo to retro consoles, announcing ports for Nintendo 64 and Sega Dreamcast. Sebastian Kostka rebuilt Donut Dodo using a custom engine originally created for the sequel Donut Dodo Fantastico, enabling easier ports to older hardware like N64 and Dreamcast. The N64 version stands complete, while the Dreamcast port takes priority next. This rebuilt version refines gameplay balance, navigation, sounds, and sprites for a subtle yet improved experience. Ports introduce “Endless Delights” marathon mode, offline achievements, perfect run bonuses, and an enhanced attract mode with auto-play demo and fresh music by composer Sean Bialo. These additions build on the original’s single-screen platforming challenges inspired by classics like Donkey Kong. ROMs launch “soon-ish” on itch.io, with physical copies sold via Kostka’s website; a Kickstarter will assess demand for costly N64 cartridges. Plans also tease Mega Drive support and ports for other Kostka titles.
