Dragon Quest VII Reimagined PS5 demo now available

Square Enix has released the PS5 demo for Dragon Quest VII Reimagined, allowing players to dive into the opening Ballymolloy storyline ahead of the full launch on February 5, 2026. The demo covers the complete Ballymolloy arc, where the hero, Kiefer, and Maribel arrive in a village plagued by monsters that have kidnapped all the women, leading to quests in the Rainbow Mines and a dramatic tower confrontation. It requires about 2.3GB of storage and features the game’s charming diorama-style visuals with puppet-like characters in detailed environments. Progress seamlessly carries over to the full game upon purchase. Playing the demo unlocks the ‘Day Off Dress’ outfit for Maribel for free in the full version, adding incentive for early trials. Dragon Quest VII Reimagined updates the 2000 classic with streamlined storytelling through vignettes, overhauled battles including vocational perks, auto-battle options, and pre-emptive strikes on weaker foes. The demo has drawn praise for its smooth PS5 performance and accessibility features like auto-play.
