Recent revelations from the U.S. Justice Department’s release of the so-called Epstein Files show that Jeffrey Epstein was permanently banned from Microsoft’s Xbox Live service back in December 2013. The disclosure comes as part of millions of pages of emails and records made public on January 30, 2026 under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Among the sprawling trove of documents is a Microsoft “Notification of Enforcement Action” sent to an account linked to Epstein on December 19, 2013, which informed him that his Xbox Live privileges were permanently suspended due to what was described as “harassment, threats, and/or abuse” of other players. Early media reports focused on this stated reason, but further context provided by additional emails suggests a more direct cause: Epstein’s status as a registered sex offender. It remains unclear how active Epstein was as a gamer—or what, if any, interactions he had on the platform—but the documents confirm Microsoft followed through with a permanent suspension, a rare and unusual footnote among the wider and often disturbing revelations contained within the Epstein Files.
