Turok: Origins roars back in fall 2026 with massive dinosaur battles

The long-dormant Turok franchise is officially stepping back into the spotlight. Developer Saber Interactive has confirmed that Turok: Origins will launch Fall 2026, arriving on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and a newly announced version for the upcoming Switch 2. While an exact day hasn’t yet been revealed, the fall release window positions the game squarely in the busy holiday season lineup. Unlike earlier entries that followed a single protagonist, Turok: Origins shifts the focus to the legendary Turok warriors as a group. Players take part in a story-driven campaign centered on humanity’s struggle against an alien invasion, battling across hostile worlds filled with prehistoric predators, monstrous creatures, and massive boss encounters. The entire campaign can be experienced solo, but the game is clearly designed with cooperative play in mind, encouraging teams to combine weapons, abilities, and strategies in large-scale fights. One of the most notable additions is the new DNA evolution system. Enemies defeated in battle leave behind genetic material that can be harvested and used to upgrade the player’s combat suit, unlocking new abilities and enhancements that visibly evolve over time. The idea is to tie progression directly to combat performance, rewarding players who experiment with different tactics and builds.

Classic Turok weapon variety also makes a strong return. Bows, sniper weapons, heavy shotguns, and futuristic plasma firearms are all part of the arsenal, supported by melee attacks and special powers designed to keep combat fast, aggressive, and cinematic. Encounters range from tight skirmishes with packs of raptors to sprawling battles against towering creatures that dominate entire arenas. The adventure stretches beyond the familiar jungle settings associated with the series, taking players across multiple hostile planets collectively known as the Lost Lands. Ancient ruins, dense wilderness, swamps, and rocky wastelands provide diverse battlegrounds, reinforcing the feeling that Origins is meant to be both a prequel and a full-scale modern reboot. With its Fall 2026 release window, cooperative campaign design, and next-generation platform lineup—including the surprise Switch 2 version—Turok: Origins is shaping up to be the franchise’s most ambitious return yet. If Saber Interactive can successfully blend the series’ classic dinosaur-hunting identity with modern shooter systems, the legendary name may soon be roaring back into mainstream gaming once again.
