The Commodore Amiga scene has just received a fresh injection of arcade chaos with the release of Creepy Crawlers Goliath, a fast-paced shooter from indie developer Digilicious Nibbles. Created for AmiGameJam 2025, this new release proves that the Amiga isn’t quietly fading into retro retirement — it’s too busy blasting spiders out of the sky. Inspired by classic arcade shooters such as Space Invaders, the game takes the familiar wave-based formula and adds a rather uncomfortable twist: instead of neat rows of alien ships, you’re facing swarms of aggressive, screen-crawling arachnids. And not just a few. A lot. If you’ve ever looked at a spider and thought, “This would be more exciting if there were fifty of them and they were armed,” then congratulations — this game was made for you.

Creepy Crawlers Goliath:Reloaded features ten increasingly intense levels, each introducing new enemy types and movement patterns designed to keep players on edge. The difficulty ramps up steadily, transforming early confidence into full-blown laser-firing panic. Weapon upgrades and four different power-ups offer some much-needed breathing room, though “breathing room” might be optimistic when the screen is packed with skittering enemies. There’s also a high score table, because nothing says friendly competition like proving you survived longer than your friends in a digital spider apocalypse. Set in the year 2078, the game’s premise sees Earth overrun by hostile spider invaders. At the center of the infestation lies Goliath, a colossal queen spider who clearly never missed leg day. Your task is simple: blast your way through wave after wave of eight-legged menace and take down the oversized queen before humanity becomes an interstellar snack. It’s straightforward, unapologetic arcade storytelling — and that’s exactly the charm.

Technically, the game was built using classic Amiga development tools, with fully hand-crafted pixel art. The developers proudly avoided AI-generated graphics, meaning every spider on screen was placed there deliberately. Someone, somewhere, carefully drew each one. That’s dedication — possibly concerning dedication — but dedication nonetheless. To run the game smoothly, players will need an AGA-equipped Amiga with 2MB of Chip RAM, 1MB of Fast RAM, and at least a 020 CPU at 14 MHz, along with a hard drive installation. In other words, give your Amiga a decent setup and it will happily handle the arachnid onslaught.

What makes Creepy Crawlers Goliath:Reloaded stand out is its pure arcade philosophy. It’s easy to pick up, instantly readable, and brutally addictive. You’ll lose a life, blame the spiders, insist the hit detection was unfair, and then immediately press restart for “just one more go.” That’s the magic of classic arcade design, and this title captures it perfectly. Fast, frantic, and filled with more legs than a furniture warehouse, Creepy Crawlers Goliath:Reloaded is a love letter to old-school arcade shooters with a delightfully creepy edge. Whether you’re a long-time Amiga enthusiast or just someone who enjoys turning oversized insects into pixel dust, this is one infestation you’ll actually want to experience.
