The A4000NG is a newly announced Amiga-inspired computer being developed by AmigaKit as part of its modern “NG” (next generation) hardware lineup. The project aims to create a modern system that captures the experience of the classic Amiga computers while using contemporary hardware and interfaces. It is positioned as a modern reinterpretation of the original Amiga 4000, which was one of Commodore’s high-end machines from the early 1990s. The system was publicly revealed in late 2025 during Amiga community events such as AmiWest. It follows earlier products from AmigaKit, including the A600GS and the A1200NG. These machines form a family of systems designed to provide ready-to-use Amiga environments with modern hardware. The A600GS targets entry-level users and gaming, the A1200NG focuses on a motherboard replacement for Amiga 1200 cases, and the A4000NG is intended to become the higher-end system in the lineup.

Although full hardware specifications have not yet been officially released, the A4000NG is expected to use an ARM-based architecture rather than the original Motorola 68000-series CPUs or later PowerPC processors used in some Amiga-derived systems. Like earlier NG models, it will likely use a single-board computer platform internally and provide modern connectivity such as HDMI video output, USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modern storage options. On the software side, the A4000NG is expected to ship with AmigaKit’s AmiBench desktop environment. AmiBench provides a modernized Amiga-style interface and integrates emulation technology derived from UAE to run classic Amiga software. This approach allows the system to run many traditional Amiga applications and games while offering a simplified, preconfigured environment for users who want an easy setup without configuring emulators manually.

A working development prototype of the A4000NG has reportedly already been demonstrated, but the final specifications, hardware configuration, and pricing have not yet been publicly disclosed. The official release is expected sometime in 2026, although exact launch dates have not been confirmed. Overall, the A4000NG represents an attempt to extend the Amiga ecosystem with a modern appliance-style computer that preserves the look, feel, and software compatibility of the classic Amiga platform while making it accessible on contemporary hardware.
