SiN: Reloaded is out today, 24 September 2026, bringing Ritual Entertainment’s 1998 first-person shooter to modern PCs and consoles with updated graphics, improved controls and a complete collection of its original content. Nightdive Studios has handled the remaster, giving players access to the original campaign and its Wages of SiN expansion in a single package. The new release keeps the game’s sci-fi setting, branching missions and interactive environments intact. Players can expect familiar weapons, genetically modified enemies and plenty of combat across industrial facilities, laboratories and city streets.
SiN first arrived during a busy year for PC shooters
Ritual Entertainment released the original SiN in November 1998, a year packed with major first-person shooters. Half-Life arrived during the same month, introducing its own approach to storytelling and environmental interaction. SiN took a different route.
Built using a modified version of the Quake II engine, it mixed fast gunplay with detailed environments, mission objectives and interactive computer systems. Players could operate machinery, access security terminals and influence certain parts of the campaign through their actions.
The game introduced Colonel John R. Blade, a security specialist investigating a dangerous substance spreading across a crime-ridden city. His investigation brings him into conflict with SinTEK Industries, a corporation led by Dr Elexis Sinclaire.
SinTEK’s experiments involve genetic manipulation, mutated creatures and a growing list of problems for Blade to deal with. It’s a straightforward setup for a shooter, but the campaign offers plenty to do beyond shooting enemies.

Interactive missions remain a central part of SiN: Reloaded
One of SiN’s defining features is its approach to level design. Missions contain computer terminals, security systems, machinery and alternative routes, giving players different ways to approach objectives. Some terminals use DOS-style interfaces, letting Blade access information and interact with equipment. Certain missions introduce vehicles, including a forklift, patrol boat and helicopter.
Player actions can affect how individual missions unfold, opening different routes or changing subsequent encounters. It’s an approach which gives the campaign more variety than a simple sequence of combat arenas. The shooting has its own mechanical details.
Enemies react to damage in different body areas, and players can shoot weapons from their hands. The arsenal includes familiar firearms alongside heavier equipment for dealing with tougher opponents. SiN: Reloaded retains these systems, keeping the original campaign structure and combat mechanics in place rather than turning the release into a completely new shooter.
Nightdive gives SiN a graphical and technical update
Nightdive Studios has brought SiN onto its KEX Engine, which supports the remaster’s graphical changes and compatibility with current hardware. The new edition features higher-definition textures, updated character models, improved menu artwork and anti-aliasing. On PC, the game supports resolutions up to 4K and frame rates reaching 144fps, depending on the hardware and display in use.
Players can switch between the remastered visuals and the original SiN Gold presentation. It’s a useful option for anyone interested in comparing the two versions without leaving the game. The controls have received attention, too.
Keyboard and mouse input remains available, and the new release includes updated gamepad support. Nightdive has revised the interface to accommodate modern displays and control options, retaining the underlying gameplay systems. The soundtrack receives higher-resolution audio, with music by Zak Belica mixed and engineered by Chris Mock. Achievements round out the package.

Wages of SiN expansion comes included
The release includes Wages of SiN, the original expansion pack developed by 2015, Inc. Its campaign follows Blade into another investigation involving organised crime and genetic experimentation. A criminal organisation led by a mafia boss has become involved with a new group of mutated enemies, giving Blade another series of missions to complete.
The expansion introduces extra locations and combat encounters, extending the original game’s single-player content. Both campaigns use the updated KEX Engine, so players get the same graphical options and modern controls throughout the package.
SiN: Reloaded is available now on PC and consoles
SiN: Reloaded launches on Windows PC through Steam, GOG and the Epic Games Store. Console versions are available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
The release brings together the original SiN campaign and Wages of SiN expansion with updated graphics, modern controls and support for current gaming hardware. For players interested in the original game’s interactive missions, branching level structure and sci-fi shooting, SiN: Reloaded provides a new way to play the complete single-player package.
