Bang Bang Busters 2 pre-orders now open for Neo Geo and Dreamcast

Pre-orders for Bang Bang Busters 2 have officially opened, giving retro gaming fans the chance to secure a copy of the long-awaited sequel to the cult Neo-Geo platformer Bang Bang Busters. Developed by PixelHeart, the game aims to bring back the charm and fast-paced gameplay of the original while introducing new mechanics, levels, and visual improvements for both retro and modern platforms. The original Bang Bang Busters became a cult favorite among Neo-Geo fans thanks to its colorful pixel art and unique gameplay. Players controlled two rabbit-like space police officers, Lazy and Refia, who fought enemies using an unusual mechanic: inflating foes and throwing them to create chain reactions that clear the screen. This distinctive gameplay helped the title stand out among classic arcade platformers.

Bang Bang Busters 2 builds on that foundation with a brand-new adventure. In the sequel, Lazy and Refia once again take on an intergalactic threat when the sinister Emperor Honey turns visitors of the Happy Universe amusement park into stuffed toys. The duo must travel across a variety of vibrant worlds to stop the villain and restore peace. Gameplay remains true to its arcade roots, featuring fast platforming, enemy-throwing mechanics, cooperative multiplayer, and colorful pixel-art environments. The developers have also added a modern aiming guide to help players throw enemies more accurately, while still offering a classic control option for those who prefer the original style of play.

The game is planned for release on several platforms, including Neo-Geo AES and MVS, Sega Dreamcast, and modern systems such as Nintendo Switch and PC. Physical editions are also being produced, especially for retro hardware, making the pre-order phase particularly important for collectors. Development of the sequel began with a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2025, which raised over $47,000 from supporters. With the crowdfunding phase completed, pre-orders are now open for players who want to secure their copy before the official release. Bang Bang Busters 2 is currently scheduled to launch around June 2026. With its mix of nostalgic arcade gameplay and modern enhancements, the sequel aims to capture the spirit of classic platformers while introducing the series to a new generation of players.
